Week 31 - Test ideas by talking about them 💡
Coming back to the journal I wrote about here, I found that it’s rather hard for me to consistently keep it going, like write thoughts in the morning, and continue in the evening. Even though it usually takes 10-15 minutes, sometimes less, I have an inner feeling to jump into kinda real work and real conversations, instead of working on my thoughts.
Still, even though it’s hard to answer questions like “What is my purpose in life?”, I noticed that even just starting to think of it makes me move in the right direction, which means that the more I postpone doing something, the harder I make it for myself, and the best way is to start, withour a rush, and notice what’s happening next because sometimes exactly to start is the hardest part 🤓
Also, this week I met nearly 10 new people, and half of them were in person, half online, and I’m getting more and more confident that if I have an opportunity to meet someone in real life, I’ll always go an extra mile because those connections are much more genuine and lead to great results so much faster 🤩🚀
Btw, this week I’ve started one more amazing podcast - The Independent Workforce - where I talk to people from corporate organizations and staffing companies who hire freelancers about working with independent experts, and it’s just a well of knowledge, connection, and experience, so my personal take:
If you want to meet people from a specific niche and learn from them faster, create a podcast, make it all about highlighting their experience and making them shine, and by doing that, you’ll move forward in the niche very fast 💪
Also, this week I’ve learned that the best way to test ideas is not actually to try them (yes, of course, trying is amazing), but talking about them with different people and not just listening to what they have to say, but checking their reaction.
When people are interested, they can be silent, but you’ll see the change in the way they look at you, and that’s exactly what they call “spark” or “fire” in the eyes, but if they’re not, they can smile at you with their best smile, and tell you all the words of support, but there will be zero actions afterwards 🤷♂️
So from now on, I’m starting to talk more and more about the ideas I have to find collaborators with whom we can move forward, even before trying an idea 😏
And yes, continuing small motivational videos about why consistency beats motivation 🤓😉
Thoughts of the week:
“In complex tasks, it’s better to work in groups, and in simple tasks - alone.” - Nudge podcast
"Find the pain, amplify it, tell a story, show transformation, make an offer, ask for a response." - Personal IPO podcast
“The way I come up with the ideas is when I’m not thinking. It’s all conversations, gaps, and spaces.” - Simon Sinek, A bit of optimism podcast
“Simplicity always beats complexity.” - Justin Welsh at Personal IPO podcast
“The clarity you seek is found on the blank page you avoid.” - Sahil Bloom’s newsletter
Song of the week:
Book and quotes of the week:
“First and foremost, try to get self-interest into every headline you write. Make your headline suggest to readers that here is something they want.”
“Spell out the benefit of the benefit. In other words, people don’t buy quarter-inch drill bits. They buy quarter-inch holes so they can hang their children’s pictures.”
“WIIFY—“what’s in it for you”—should be a central aspect of every speech.”
Tools that I use with referrals:
Descript - for anything around podcasting and video editing
Manus - for building complex systems and projects
Beehiiv - for a newsletter (that’s what you receive 😅)
Text Blaze - to access message templates with shortcuts (like “/ty”)
Exali - promo “FROMYURII” - indemnity insurance for independent experts in Europe
