Week 22 - Build trust and think again 💪

Let’s start with something I definitely need to change in the daily actions - I already have 361 reactions and 175 comments, so if anyone has any doubts about working with me, it’s a good social proof already - so many people cannot be wrong 😉😁

Still, I have to constantly let people know what I’m doing professionally to stay on top of their minds, and that’s why I decided to change the daily task:

❌ stop doing: invite 5 people to support the post with my services

✅ start doing: invite 5 people to give feedback about “Yurii’s hub

Continuing the questions of “Yurii’s hub”, I’ve had a conversation with a great friend of mine, Tania, about this hub, and even though it’s better than nothing, it’s still A LOT!

She told me about the KLT thing - know - like - trust, that for people to work with you (or refer you to others), they need to know you first, then it’s definitely good if they like you, and hopefully, over time, you can build trusted relationships with them.

We’ve also talked about the AIDA approach - attention - interest - desire - action, and that’s how many websites are built - you grab people’s attention, spike their interest by sharing something exciting, make them want something by sharing social proofs (feedback, testimonials, etc.), and kinda encourage them to take some action.

So I’ll definitely be rebuilding my “Yurii’s hub” in the landing-page style that clearly speaks to audiences I work with, and gives them crystal clarity on how exactly they can benefit from learning from my experience (and maybe even working with me) 🤩

Also, to the point of “trust”, some time ago, Irina gave me feedback about the DOAC knowledge base I’m building - that Steven already has a book based on the previous podcast conversations he had, and at the end of the day everyone can learn (and even write a book) based on podcasts, still it’s all about whether you trust the person and their point of view to check what they care about because otherwise it’s just another database nobody cares 😏

One more thing I keep in mind is 3 questions I’ve learned from the Good To Great book, and the idea behind it is that if you can find the answer that fits all of them, you’re halfway to building a great business, and here they are:

  • What can you be the best in the world at?

  • What drives your economic engine?

  • What are you deeply passionate about?

We can talk a lot about what they mean (and I’m not sure I’ve got them fully clear), still, I’d propose to read the book (or maybe even just a summary, I’d say the book itself is so repetitive that it could be 2-3 times smaller 😲😅), and that’s definitely something I’m letting my unconscious part of the brain to work on!

Also, this week I’ve had a great deep coaching conversation with Balach, and he questioned my belief that I have an impostor syndrome, and he told me:

“I see this person, who makes valuable posts like 5 times a week on LI, runs 2 podcasts, meets dozens of people weekly, supports Freelance Unlocked community, and it’s all in addition to doing full-time work of building freelance market in Poland - it doesn’t seem like an impostor to me at all!”

And recently, since I’m a member of the DOAC community, I noticed a very striking thing - they had near 3500 members in the first month, and in the second, the number of members drops 10%, and instead of accepting it, addressing it, and kinda noticing an elephant in the room, they decided to simply remove the counter of community members 😲

It was so weird to me, and I thought,
“Oh, wow, if such a successful person as Steven doesn’t want to look like a failure (even though it’s not), I definitely should embrace and accept my knowledge and experience, and keep sharing it with people as much as I can, while still keeping an open mind, and being ready to admit if I’m wrong at something, and learn from it!”

So, yes, I’d say this week was very deep in the personal findings 😲😅😏

Also, I’ve given a try to Phantombuster to automate some of my mundane tasks (such as inviting people to like company’s LI page), and I love it so far to the point, that I’ll maybe even be ready to pay like 70$ monthly to free some time, but let’s see, I’ll jeep ypu posted on that 😉

Okay, last but not least, I’ve been inspired by Tom Ross (my community friend), who decided to share his song of the week, and The Economist (they share valuable quotes), so to give a fuller picture of the surrounding of my learnings, I’ll be also sharing my song of the week in this newsletter, and the book of the week and 3 latest quotes I learned from it, so here they are:

Song of the week:

Book and quotes of the week:

“Disagreeable givers often make the best critics: their intent is to elevate the work, not feed their own egos. They don’t criticize because they’re insecure; they challenge because they care. They dish out tough love.”

“We won’t have much luck changing other people’s minds if we refuse to change ours.”

“We don’t have to convince them that we’re right—we just need to open their minds to the possibility that they might be wrong. Their natural curiosity might do the rest.”

Daily actions:

  • invite 5 people to give feedback on “Yurii’s Hub”

  • tell 5 freelancers about the Freelance Foundation course

  • participate in a secret LI support group

  • train my idea muscle - come up with 5 ideas about smth

  • read a self-development book/listen to a professional podcast for 15 minutes

  • make a valuable post/comment on LinkedIn

  • work 30 minutes solely on my business 😎

Weekly actions:

  • transcribe one new episode of the Creator Spotlight podcast and learn something from it

  • transcribe one new DOAC video and learn one thing from it
