Week 16 - Leaving your legacy 👑
This Friday, I’ve had my bittersweet anniversary working with long-term clients CodeControl and 9am. Bitter because I finished working with them for now, and sweet because of everything else we’ve gone through together (I wrote more about it here).
And of course, while handing over all the things I’ve done with them, I wanted to ensure that everything connected with Freelance Thrive and Freelance Sucks podcasts (episodes themselves, small videos with nuggets of wisdom, quotes, advice, blog-posts, etc.) will be alive forever since it’s really evergreen content.
So to do that and help my former teammates to continue doing all the things I’ve done and keep helping freelancers on their journey, I’ve created a step-by-step list with where to find all the things, what my approach was to doing daily posts and newsletters, what systems and processes I’ve built, and how to continue re-use all the content we have for marketing even without creating new content, and I’ve even migrated the Freelance Foundation course that we’ve created to sell from Memberspot to YouTube, and made it open for people and while giving a huge value to them, also bring extra attention to 9am!
Trust me, the pile of materials is huge! I’ve documented everything I could to make it as easy as possible for continuing to build community and marketing even without me.
I did it because even though we stopped working now, it doesn’t mean we won’t work in the future, and I want with my whole heart for 9am and CodeControl to succeed, that’s just my approach, and I truly believe that how you finish working with a client is as important as how you work, maybe even more important 😏😊
And when preparing all the legacy I’ve built for this client, I started thinking about all the things I’ve done over years, such as Community Life, Community ROI, Humans of Business, Freelance Thrive and Freelance Sucks podcasts, about hundreds of posts about freelancing, connecting community goals with business goals, building human connections, and many-many more.
Also, I’ve had a conversation with a friend who asked me how they can support me, and I mumbled something about “go and like the latest podcast episode”.
Also, I remembered how I asked people to vote for the Community Life podcast, and at the end of the day, it won the Best Community podcast award, and how I asked people to spread the word about what I do, and already have 300+ likes on the post, and over 40 reposts!
So that’s was it:
people want to support me, but they don’t know how 😲
That’s exactly why I decided to set up a Patreon account to share with everyone who asks how they can support me!
I ideated three tiers, starting from 9 euros up to 499 euros, created limited seats for the 49 and 499 tiers, and wrote the descriptions for all tiers.
While doing that, I wanted to give as much value as possible from my side while also spending as little time as possible because I’m already making a huge content contribution.
Of course, it’s not set in stone, it’s just the first step, and the next step is messaging folks who’ve supported my podcast and professional journey, and asking for their feedback about the Patreon tiers I have.
This way I’ll kill 2 birds with 1 stone, meaning that I’ll bring more visibility to Patreon I have and the way they can support me, and also I’ll search for the way to improve to make it more compelling and interesting to every other person I’ll ask for feedback! 😏
So in the upcoming week, I’ll test it and come back with the results later!
Also, here are some updates to daily tasks:
I won’t be doing daily bulk invites to the database of amazing humans because I already have enough amazing humans there, and now I’ll be just inviting some great people I’ll meet during my journey :)
Instead, I’ll be sharing my Patreon with 5 people and ask for feedback.
Daily actions:
invite 5 people to support the post with my services
ask 5 people about the Patreon page
participate in a secret LI support group
read a self-development book/listen to a professional podcast for 15 minutes
make a valuable post/comment on LinkedIn
work 30 minutes solely on my business 😎
Weekly actions:
transcribe one new episode of the Creator Spotlight podcast and learn something from it
transcribe one new Simon Quibb’s video and learn something from it

And if you’d like to walk The Road To $1M+ Freelance Business with me 👇
See you next week! 👋
