Week 13 - Outreach without reaching out 😝
This week was all about doubling down on connecting with the Freelance Unlocked participants, meeting them at the online pre-conference meetup, participating in some podcasts talking about the importance of community-building, preparing small clips out of the Community ROI and Community Life podcasts, and connecting with more and more potential guests for the podcasts.
Also, it’s fun, but I’ve had just a small coffee chat with a good friend of mine from the community world to catch up on what’s going on in each other’s lives, and after hearing about the Community Business Playbook, she purchased it immediately, even while being on a call.
That’s one more reminder that people might want to support you in what you’re doing, but have no idea how to do it. So what I’ll do after the Freelance Unlocked conference - a Notion page with all the valuable resources that I’ve created, and also an information on how people can support me - either in a monetary or non-monetary way, and every time someone would ask how can they help or support me, I’ll be sharing with them this link 😊
Talking about small clips from podcasts - I already have 25 of them, and it was rather easy, since I’ve had transcriptions, and I’ve just asked ChatGPT this:
“I'm preparing small clips to showcase the ROI of the community, use cases of how it can help businesses, and actionable steps to take to showcase it, so please point out 10 moments in the conversation that I can potentially use for small videos, please add the first and the last specific sentences as they are in the text of each example”
Definitely, I was a final decision maker and chose only 5 best-suited episodes out of the list, and I can tell you - it was much faster than going through the transcript myself, and checking what clips to create.
Also, I’ve learned from the coffee chat with an AI expert, that it’s good to assign chatGPT a role, like: “Hey chatGPT, I want you to act as a marketer of this company, so please help me bla-bla-bla..”
Of course, the more initial input you’ll give it, the more output and ideas you’ll have in the end, and that’s exactly what I’ll try to do after Freelance Unlocked to promote all that content that I’ve already created and keep creating as best and as fast as possible.
Because, really, I hate doing cold outreach. I prefer people coming to me by finding my content or being referred by someone, so that’s what I’ll focus on in the upcoming weeks: building referral processes and putting my content out as much as possible so people can find me!
Still, next week I’ll make dozens of in-person connections, and I also have this trick on how to make those connections very easy by turning my phone into a business card by doing these steps:
Open the LinkedIn app
Turn on dark mode by: Settings > Account preferences > Display > Dark mode, and select "Dark mode" for always on.
Tap the search bar.
On the top right, tap the QR code icon.
Save your QR code.
Tap “My Code”.
Tap “Save to Photos” or “Save with photo”.
Resize the image
On most phones, you’ll get a square image.
Open it in your gallery and take a screenshot to turn it into a screen-friendly rectangle.
Set it as your lock screen
iPhone: Long-tap your lock screen → Add new → Choose the saved image → Adjust.
Android: Go to Settings > Wallpaper > Lock Screen → Choose the saved image → Set and confirm.
So I’ll be playing with this thing and let you know later on about how good it works, and also will try to build some human relationships with great folks, and here and there say what I do, and maybe even get some potential clients, or referrals, so let’s see 😏🤩
And, of course, there will be less daily actions, so I’ll stick only with these 👇
Daily actions:
participate in a secret LI support group
read a self-development book/listen to a professional podcast for 15 minutes
If you have any thoughts, ideas, or questions, please 👇
And if you’d like to walk The Road To $1M+ Freelance Business with me 👇
See you next week! 👋
